Assam
Administrative Staff College (AASC) in partnership with UNICEF has
launched a state-wide sensitization program on pulse Polio immunization.
The main purpose is to social mobilization to make Assam Polio free within
the shortest possible time. Mr. Jude Henriques and Ms. Seema from UNICEF's
Calcutta office held detailed discussion with Mr. B. R. Samal, Director,
AASC to identify the key strategies and interventions for the program and
the following activities were agreed to.

As
part of the interventions identified, a state level sensitization
workshop for social mobilization for Polio eradication will be held in
AASC, Guwahati on 30th October 2004. District key functionaries--Nehru
Yuva Kendra coordinator, ICDS project Officers, Addl. CM&HO,
Secretaries of Literacy Campaigns, prominent NGO representatives--will
attend the workshop.

strengthen routine immunization and increase coverage of polio
immunization through intensive social mobilization and advocacy
initiatives with special emphasis to make the upcoming IPPI (intensified
pulse polio immunization) on 21st november 2004 successful (,)
Assam Administrative staff college with support from UNICEF is organizing
a workshop at 9.00am on 30 October 2004 at its khanapara campus. community
mobilization thru intensive kalajatra has been indentified as one of the
strategies for this round. please depute the following team from your
district: nehru yuva kendra co-ordinator, ICDS project officers, TLC
secretry, addl. cm&Ho (polio), executive magistrate (i/c polio), zilla
parishad president, one reputed ngo representative. Actual BUS-fare, da as
admissible under rules, fooding, etc shall be borne from this end. each
team from the district should meet under the chairmanship of DC and bring
an action plan to make the ippi a success in their district. fund will be
released thru the team after the workshop for intesive kalajatra and
monitoring thereafter. Depcoms are also invited to the workshop.
